Best Time to Visit Auli (Month-by-Month Guide)
Every season in Auli carries a different mood. Here's what to expect month by month, and which season suits your kind of trip.
Winter & ski season (December – March)
This is Auli at its most iconic — snow-covered slopes, a working ski resort, and long, quiet, cold nights. If skiing or a proper snow experience is the point of your trip, this is the window. Temperatures regularly drop below freezing at night, so pack accordingly. It's also the season where power fluctuations and slower travel are most likely, given the weather — part of the mountain rhythm we ask guests to embrace.
Spring (April – June)
As the snow retreats, Auli turns green and the wildflowers start to bloom. Days are pleasant, skies are some of the clearest of the year, and it's a strong window for trekking to spots like Gorson Bugyal. This is generally considered the most reliable season for uninterrupted mountain views.
Monsoon (July – August)
Monsoon brings mist, cloud cover, and a quieter, more contemplative version of Auli — but also landslide risk on the approach roads, so accessibility can be less predictable during heavy rain. If you're drawn to solitude over visibility, this season has its own appeal, but check road conditions before travelling and build slack into your itinerary.
Autumn (September – November)
Autumn is often the sweet spot: crisp air, clear skies, and fewer crowds than the winter peak. Temperatures are cool but manageable, and visibility for Himalayan views tends to be excellent before the winter snow sets in.
Which season fits your trip?
For skiing or a snow-first trip: December to March. For trekking and wildflowers: April to June. For quiet solitude, if you don't mind some unpredictability: July to August. For a slow-living, mountain-view stay without winter's extremes: September to November — our own pick for guests prioritising the WAMOS pace over any single activity.
